The course provides an introduction to the physical structure of the landscape and examines how natural systems work and shape landscapes. The water and the interaction between water and the environment are used as tools to read the landscape's history, topography, geomorphology, vegetation and ecotypes. The further change of the landscapes is studied in relation to natural processes, climate change and urban development. The course builds on the design from the first year and adds an understanding of larger scales and how the shapes of the landscape came into being. The interplay between hydrology, ecology, geomorphology and climatic conditions is studied with a focus on how this affects, and can be used in design.
