Course description:
In the course materials and construction theory, students will gain knowledge of material use and material selection, which materials are suitable where and how we use them in different ways in the construction of the elements and functions with which we shape the environment. Surfaces and walls and roofs, stairs, edges, walls, squares and squares, sidewalks, plantations, canals, gutters, paths, bridges, railings, ramparts and ponds. The materials we surround ourselves with affect us. Take a tour of your own home. Close your eyes and rub your fingers over the materials around you. What is the wall made of? is it smooth, rough, hairy? does it feel cold or hot? what about the floor? the table surface. What if all surfaces in the room had the same surface as the window, what atmosphere would detgi the room? experience, sound? what if all the surfaces in the room were like the table surface? What about the street outside? What surfaces do you find there, and what materials are they made of? How are they experienced? The choice of coating materials does not only fulfill a functional role - experience of the surroundings as hard, soft or sharp can also contribute to welcoming us or seeming dismissive. Hard surfaces reflect sound in a different way than soft, and smooth surfaces reflect light in a different way than rough. At the same time we must understand the constructive and qualitative properties of different materials - the surface must withstand the weight and turning forces of a bus or daily tread of busy feet? Naked toes on a hot summer, or the walker for someone's grandmother?
